Also known as the Gryp Knot or Tube Knot.
The Nail Knot is one of the few knots that requires an accessory or tool to tie. It is a bend knot that can be used to join two different lines together, regardless of diamater. To tie the Nail Knot, two lines are overlapped along with a nail or a hollow tube, such as a coffee straw. The leader is then wrapped several times over the overlap between the two lines and the nail or tube, then threaded through the tube. The nail or tube can then be removed, after which the knot is cinched down.
