The Blood Knot is a classic bend knot used for tying two lines together, typically of the same diameter. Its origins date back further than most other bend knots, despite having a structure fairly similar to other popular bend knots such as the Uni-to-Uni Knot. The Blood Knot is fairly easy to tie, but does require an extra bit of dexterity to hold the first half of the knot in place as the second half is tied on. Its diameter profile is also comparable to other popular bend knots, and is slim enough to be used for attaching a leader that needs to be cast through the guides of a fishing rod.
