Clinch Knot

The Clinch Knot is a timeless classic fishing knot that has spawned numerous variants and improvements. The most commonly known variant is the Improved Clinch Knot, which makes one key alteration at the end by passing the tag end once more through the loop formed in the penultimate step. Most anglers simply use the Improved Clinch Knot in place of the original, but it is useful to understand the structure of the classic knot as it appears in a number of other useful, powerful knots such as the San Diego Jam Knot.
